Bagpipes welcomed Taylor Swift to Scotland with a highland rendition of her hit song Love Story.

As the first UK leg on her sold out Eras tour, Edinburgh residents rolled out the welcome mat in the best way they know how.

Paying homage to her Scottish ancestry, eight highland bagpipers and three drummers took to their instruments just outside Murrayfield stadium, and tooted out the tune to Taylor’s early hit.

With performances taking place in the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium from 7th to 9th of June, the venue has aptly been renamed ‘Scottish Lass’ to greet the American singer.

The Reel Time Pipe Band, who have played all over the world and for audiences including The Royal Family, prepared with 32 hours of rehearsal to deliver the Taylor Swift melody.

And joining in with the thousands of Swift fans who are glitzing their outfits with sparkles to watch the show, the 11-piece band wore specially sequined kilts for the occasion.

Frontman of the band, Pipe Major Roddy Deans, said: “Lots of Taylor’s tunes translate surprisingly well to traditional Scottish instruments.

“We’re all huge music fans, so were delighted to help welcome Taylor to Scotland in the best way we know how.

“It’s been a lot of fun recreating Love Story on the bagpipes and putting this ensemble together.”
