According to reports, the collision between the Kanchanjunga Express and a freight train near New Jalpaiguri occurred due to low visibility caused by heavy rainfall. The accident, which resulted in casualties, has been attributed to the lack of the 'Rail Kavach' anti-collision system on the route. While progress has been made in implementing Kavach elsewhere, its absence in this case has raised concerns and presented a challenge for the government.
