On Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, under the relentless heat exceeding 40° C, I found myself once again drenched in sweat and tormented by incessant insect bites. The unbearable conditions necessitated another cold water shower, utilizing the water tap across the street from the UNHCR building. Completing the arduous task of manually washing my clothes, despite lacking shampoo and on an empty stomach, underscored the harsh reality of my existence.
This day poignantly marked the two-month anniversary since the demolition of my seventh shelter—a bitter testament to the relentless adversity I have faced. The cold water offered brief respite though failed to cleanse my hair and body adequately, as the scant remnants of shampoo could not suffice. Desperation led me to pour water into the nearly empty container, attempting to extract any remaining efficacy. The operation yielded minimal results, leaving me with no shampoo and no means to procure more, should my dire need for another shower arise.
Returning to my Banner’s position, I draped my washed clothes to dry, their feeble state mirroring my own struggle beneath the unyielding sun. Despite the adversity, I resumed my unending work outside the UNHCR office, tethered by a dwindling reserve of energy and gnawing hunger. Hanging my clothes on the tree and the rope securing my Banner symbolized a fragile lifeline in this harsh environment.
Each passing moment underscored the severity of my plight and the urgent necessity of continued support. Your assistance remains vital; act now to help alleviate this relentless suffering.
