CRISTIANO RONALDO came inches away from being two-footed in the chest by a fan last night.

When leaving the pitch after Portugal's shock 2-0 loss to Georgia, a fan jumped over the stands coming close to knocking the superstar to the ground in the process.

Ronaldo and his side were trudging off the pitch at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Georgia, who are ranked some 68 places below Portugal in the Fifa world rankings.

And what was already a terrible night for the Al Nassr forward came close to getting far worse.

A video from the stands circulated on social media showed a supporter hopping over the barrier in the stands to try and get close to Ronaldo as he walked down the tunnel.

But without looking where he was going he jumped feet first at Ronaldo, coming within inches of taking out the 39-year-old.

Ronaldo seemed shocked at the crazy moment but was protected by a nearby steward who leaped in front of the star to try and prevent him from getting hurt.

The video doesn't appear to show that the fan intended to hurt Ronaldo but rather looked like he was trying to get close to the hero instead.

It's not the first time that fans have crossed the line to try and get close to Ronaldo during Euro 2024 either.

Numerous fans invaded the pitch in Dortmund during Portugal's 3-0 win over Turkey last weekend.

And it wasn't just during games that fans have been doing what they can to get up close and personal with the former Manchester United and Real Madrid batsman.

Fans stormed Portugal's pre-tournament training camp during an open session earlier this month.

The open training session had attracted thousands of eyes with fans eager to watch Ronaldo in action.

An initial 6,000 free tickets were offered up to supporters leading up to the session for the traveling fans to catch a glimpse of one of the tournament's favorites.

But it has since been reported that fans were reselling the tickets online for north of £670.
