Black Atmosphere was formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, CA. by Xstoph Gladis as a recording project. Black Atmosphere ventured out as a live act, combining theatrics with a psychedelic / glam-gothic appearance and musical structure. The band raised much interest within the Hollywood circuit. The hype of LA’s press pushed the band on a tour of the west coast in its first six months of existence and then in 1992, making their move to the Emerald city of Seattle where they based it as their home. The band formed under the name Bauhaus 1919, in reference to the first operating year of the German art school Bauhaus, but they shortened this name within a year of formation.
