At least 65 long-finned #pilot #whales died after being stranded on island in #Orkney archipelago in Scotland. A rescue charity found 77 whales, but only 12 were alive.

Whales can get stranded on shore if they lose their way or get trapped by tides. Pilot whales have close social bonds and often stray when one pod member gets distressed.
