Matthew Chapter 17 recounts several significant events. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He is transfigured before them, His face shining like the sun and His clothes becoming white as light. Moses and Elijah appear and speak with Jesus. A voice from a bright cloud declares, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!" The disciples are terrified but Jesus reassures them.
After descending the mountain, Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy whom the disciples were unable to heal due to their little faith. Jesus predicts His betrayal, death, and resurrection a second time, causing great distress among the disciples. The chapter concludes with the temple tax episode in Capernaum, where Jesus instructs Peter to find a coin in a fish’s mouth to pay the tax for both of them.
