Marcos presides over NDRRMC meeting on impact of 'Carina,' 'Habagat'
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. holds a situation briefing to assess the effects of Typhoon 'Carina' and the enhanced southwest monsoon at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)Headquarters in Quezon City on July 24, 2024. The President said the government's response to Typhoon 'Carina' was 'okay' and he ordered the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to continue assisting those affected and to work with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to focus on 'critical areas.' In the same briefing Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos recommended to the President that Metro Manila be placed under a state of calamity after being swamped by floods due to the typhoon-enhanced southwest monsoon or 'habagat.'
