Gita Tamang is a migrant from Darjeeling, India. She now works as a childminder in Lisbon. She chose Portugal because it’s relatively easy to stay and apply for family reunification.

However, although immigration is recognized as necessary for the economy, some people are concerned about the influx of immigrants to certain European economies via Portugal.
