Dozens of volunteers, residents and members of the Sustainable Climate Resilience Initiative today planted and repaired parts of the New Cut Channel river bank, in Woodland.
There are numerous breaches along the river’s banks posing the potential risk of severe flooding in an already flood prone community.
The project to plant a special type of grass and use sand bags to stabilize the banks was conceptualized by the Sustainable Climate NGO.
Reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh was in Woodland on Thursday and tells us more.
