Washboard Sam and His Washboard Band
His real name was Robert Brown. He was born on July 15, 1910, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
He moved to Chicago in 1932 and became a recording artist, attending many RCA Victor sessions (with many performances issued on the Bluebird label) between 1935 and 1949.
He played washboard behind such artists as Big Bill Broonzy, Jazz Gillum, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
He died on November 13, 1966, in Chicago.
