Donald Trump announced a plan to keep 100% of bitcoin currently and future held by the US government as part of a "strategic national bitcoin stockpile" if elected president. The US government currently holds around over $11 billion worth of cryptocurrency from seizures, including more than 200,000 Bitcoin tokens. This represents around 1% of total bitcoin in circulation. A government stockpile could impact bitcoin's price positively by signaling it as a reserve asset, but it also means less bitcoin available for private investors to trade.
