Two dozen poorly puppies saved during a 'remarkable' animal rescue find forever homes six months on
Passer-by hears the puppies whimpering and alerts the Scottish SPCA
Generous public help nurse the young dogs back to health
Charity warns the case is 'not an isolated incident'

It was one of the most remarkable animal rescues in Scotland.

Two dozen puppies, many with life threatening diseases, were found crying and cowering inside filthy boxes at a back of a lorry at Cairnryan ferry port earlier this year.

But for once the story has a fairytale ending, for every single one of the 24 cockapoo and cavapoo pups are now in their forever homes just six months after the potentially heartbreaking discovery.

Animal welfare charity Scottish SPCA was called to the port in January by a member of the public who heard the puppies whimpering underneath a truck.

They had been hidden inside cardboard boxes in dire conditions without food or water.
