This is the moment a Banksy artwork appears to be stolen by three men - mere hours after it appeared on the streets of south London.

The elusive artist took to Instagram on Thursday (August 8) to share photos of his latest creation - which depicts a lone wolf howling towards the sky.

The wolf had been painted on a satellite dish, which once sat on top of a building on Rye Lane in Peckham.

However, after Banksy posted his artwork to social media, the satellite dish was snatched.

Videos show three men - two wearing hoods - use a ladder to climb atop the building and retrieve the artwork.

They climb back down with the satellite in hand and one of the men, wearing a black hoodie and denim shorts, walks away with it.

It is unclear if the theft is part of a stunt - but the Banksy press team told the BBC they "believed" it had been stolen.

The Metropolitan Police said it had been called to reports of a "stolen satellite dish containing artwork" but no arrests had been made.

Tom Kellow was the member of the public taking the video - and confronted the men.

He asks the one where he is going, to which he replies: "I haven't done anything wrong."

When he is pressed about who the two men he was with are, the man claims: "No clue."

Mr Kellow said: "Within an hour of the Banksy wolf dish being made public there were already 20 or so people who had made it down to admire the work - so the initial reception was great.

"It's just a shame more people didn't get to see it."

The wolf satellite dish was the fourth in a recent string of Banksy pieces appearing in different locations across London this week.

A fifth piece of art appeared in Walthamstow, north-east London this afternoon (August 9).
