Taiwanese celebrate as gender-row boxer Lin seals Paris Olympics gold
Hundreds of supporters eagerly watched in New Taipei City as Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting won her Paris Olympics women's boxing final, following a gender eligibility row at the Games. Cheers erupted from Lin's home district in the early hours of Sunday morning, as the 28-year-old claimed the 57kg crown with a unanimous points decision win over Poland's Julia Szeremeta.
Lin's victory, which came a day after Algeria's Imane Khelif clinched gold at 66kg, ensures that the two fighters at the center of the major gender controversy both take home gold.
