Check out who took the stage (and who didn’t make the cut) on the opening night of the DNC! Political conventions are always a hotspot for celebrities and musicians, and this week’s Democratic National Convention is no exception. While James Taylor had to sit out due to time constraints, two other artists kicked off the event with performances that really captured the night’s vibe.
On Monday night, the first musical guest was country star Mickey Guyton, who wowed the crowd with her 2021 hit “All American.” This song, from her debut album Remember Her Name, is a classic country anthem that lists all the things she loves, like “We’re the stars in the Texas sky / And the jukebox vinyl / We’re the New York City lights / And a hotel bible.” It perfectly matched the theme of unity for the night, especially when Guyton sang, “Ain’t we all all-American?”
