SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR) — Stanford changed over a fourth and-9 with under a moment to go and that prompted the game-dominating field objective, as Stanford edged Syracuse 26-24 inside the Vault.

The Cardinals took a 20-10 lead in the second from last quarter on a 71-yard capture return for a score by Mitch Leigber.

Kyle McCord answered driving a couple of score drives. McCord scored on a 19-yard scramble to make it 20-17. Then, late in the final quarter, he hit Jackson Meeks from 13-yards out to give the Orange a 24-23 benefit.

Stanford, however, had the option to move the ball downfield on that last drive to kick a 39-yard field objective as time lapsed.

Stanford scored the initial 10 places of the game, including a 17-yard score pass from Ashton Daniels to Elic Ayomanor. Syracuse got on the board in the subsequent quarter. The Orange gained excellent field position within the Stanford 25 thanks to an interception by Devin Grant. That drive finished with a short field objective by Brady Denaburg.

After a Stanford field objective, SU scored its most memorable score just before the half on a 67-yard catch and run by Umari Hatcher.

The Cardinal went into halftime up 13-10. The powerful SU offense was held to only 145 absolute yards, while Kyle McCord was sacked multiple times in the main half.

With the misfortune, SU drops to 2-1 generally speaking, 1-1 in the ACC. Following up, is a home game next Saturday against Sacred Cross.
