A man has been arrested after an eight-year-old boy died when he was shot in the head on a remote farm.
Police were called to the address near Warcop, Cumbria at 2.50pm yesterday (Sat) where the lad was found with life-threatening head and facial injuries.
He was flown to hospital in an air ambulance but sadly died overnight.
Cumbria Constabulary said their officers secured a firearm at the scene and arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of assault GBH.
He remains in police custody but is now under arrest on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, they said.
