The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Leon” (international name: Kong-rey) has intensified into a super typhoon while moving over the Philippine Sea on Wednesday morning, Oct. 30.
Leon is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near its center and gusts reaching 230 kph.
As of 10 a.m., the center of the super typhoon was located 350 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, and is advancing west northwestward at 10 kph.
