"Mecha-ike" (official name: Mecha² Iketeru!) is a popular Japanese variety show that aired on Fuji TV from 1996 to 2018. Many comedians participated as regular members, centered around Takashi Okamura and Hiroyuki Yabe of the comedy duo "Ninety-Nine", and many projects and skits were broadcast.
This show always progressed by interweaving new projects, pranks, and popular corners. In particular, projects such as "King of Laughing Contest", "Surprise Test", and "Yomogida-kun Series" attracted attention and were popular with a wide range of age groups.
In addition, the style in which the members take on challenges head-on and bold direction are characteristic, and the unpredictable developments and appearance of unexpected guests attracted viewers. It also had high viewership ratings, and is considered one of the programs that supported Fuji TV's "golden age" at the time.
The show was broadcast for about 22 years and was loved by many fans, but sadly came to an end on March 31, 2018. It continues to enjoy enduring popularity, with many hoping for a reunion in special programs and the like.
