TANYA TUCKER
Tanya Tucker was born on the 10 October 1958 in Seminole, Texas. Her early years were spent in Wilcox, Arizona, beforemoving to Phoenix in 1967. Tucker's Father, Beau, a construction worker, and her mother, Juanita, encouraged her fledgling musical talents. At the age of six, she began taking saxophone lessons; two years later, she decided she wanted to sing, and made an remarkable debut with Mel Tillis, Who was so impressed by her talents that he invited her orstage to perform. Her father booked her to perform with visiting country stars on stage at local fairs. To further trheir daughter's career, they moved to Las Vegas, and financed a demo tape. In 1972 producer Billy Sherrill signed Tucker to Columbia Records in Nashville. Soon she had made the US country Top 10 with Alex Harvey's "Delt Dawn", and did equally well with the double-sided "Jamestown Ferry" / "Love's The Answer", and then had a US country number 1 with "What's Your Mama's Name?". In 1996, her autobiography was published. In 2002, Tucker issued her 31st album, possibly her most personal album to date, Tanya.
