China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday confirmed President Xi Jinping's congratulatory message to Donald Trump on his election as president of the United States.
Xi urged the two countries to find the right way to get along in the new era for the benefit of both countries and the world.
When asked at the press briefing about Trump's possible policies towards China, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated China's stance on the trade war and the Taiwan issue.
"No one will win a trade war, nor will it benefit the world."
And China urges the U.S. to handle Taiwan-related issues prudently so as not to seriously damage Sino-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
