The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for several Northeast Ohio counties as wintry conditions are set to grip the region in the coming days.
The Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties from midnight Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday. During that same time span, the NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cuyahoga County.
The NWS says heavy lake effect snow bands are expected to bring a total of 6-18 inches of new snow where they persist. It also said snow could fall at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour, leading to poor visibility as low as a quarter of a mile. This would make travel difficult to impossible, the NWS said.
