Luigi Mangione appeared in a Pennsylvania courtroom after refusing extradition to New York to face charges in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione is accused of fatally shooting Thompson outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan as the CEO headed to an investor meeting for UnitedHealth Group. Mangione was visibly agitated and shouted at reporters outside Blair County Courthouse before being forced inside by officers. A judge denied bail and allowed New York prosecutors 30 days to secure documents for extradition. Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He also faces local charges for possessing a 3D-printed handgun, silencer, and fake identification.
