The authority to initiate investigations based on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) recommendations on Batu Puteh lies with the Attorney General as an independent entity, not the government, said Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
Wrapping up the debate on the RCI report in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Dec 12), the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) explained that the report was tabled in Parliament to gather feedback from MPs, enabling the government to address and rectify any weaknesses identified.
Regarding the redacted sections, Azalina clarified that they contained sensitive information, including details of ongoing negotiations between Malaysia and Singapore.
