Uesugi Kenshin was a famous general during the Sengoku period in Japan and a feudal lord based in Echigo Province (present-day Niigata Prefecture). He was known for his brilliant military strategy and his righteous character, especially in the Battle of Kawanakajima against Takeda Shingen. Kenshin was called the "God of War" and his life and strategies are often featured in Japanese history documentaries. His reign was one of the most highly regarded in Japan during the Sengoku period.
