When Hazrat Wasif Ali Wasif was asked about his statement that tears are a blessing from Allah, he responded that:
In worship, one thing prevails over all, and those are "tears."

A man was sitting and crying. He had collected the essence of herbs from the forest over many years, but the bottle slipped from his hands and broke. The guru asked why he was crying. The man said he had spent his entire life collecting the essence of herbs, and now the bottle was broken. He kept crying, and the guru was laughing. The disciple asked, "Master! I am in distress, and you are laughing? Is this justice?" The guru said, "You did not get what you wanted, but I got what I wanted." The disciple asked, "What did you get?" The guru replied, "I got your tears."
The disciple asked, "What will happen with tears?" The guru replied, "It is from these tears that the essence of herbs is produced. To take the essence and to give the essence are two different things. Tears bring you very close. It is from these that the whole system is sustained.

It is a status where no sin remains a sin, and no virtue remains a virtue, and a person reaches a state of proximity. When such people are granted vision or union, they have tears in their eyes. Tears are a sign of approaching someone's presence, it is called tenderness. As long as there are tears, understand that there is a coming and going.
