US Supreme Court upholds TikTok ban
US President Joe Biden says that 'the next president' will make a decision on TikTok, after the Supreme Court on Jan. 17, 2025 upholds a law that could ban the social media app on national security concerns. US President-elect Donald Trump said that he would decide on TikTok's fate in the 'not too distant future' after he reviews the Supreme Court ruling to uphold a law banning the popular short-video app. The US Supreme Court refused to rescue TikTok from a law that required the popular short-video app to be sold by its Chinese parent company ByteDance or banned on Jan. 19 in the United States on national security grounds - a major blow to a platform used by nearly half of all Americans.
