Inquiry finds Tasmanian local council failed significantly in their conduct and decision making

A long-awaited board of inquiry report into the Dorset Council has found significant failings of governance, conduct and decision making. Despite this, members of the suspended north-east Tasmanian council will be reinstated from midnight, with the Tasmanian government flagging changes to the Local Government Act to beef up the powers of future boards of inquiry.
