The South Yorkshire Mayor has confirmed his deputy will be taking post in the next few months and their identity will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Before the May 2024 elections, Oliver Coppard said he would appoint a deputy to take lead on the powers and responsibilities absorbed into his office from what was the police and crime commissioner.
Now in 2025, a deputy mayor has yet to be confirmed, however, The Star can exclusively reveal the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has got its deputy mayor, with an announcement to come within the next few weeks.
