A U.S. passenger jet carrying 64 people crashed into the Potomac River after a midair collision with a U.S. military Black Hawk helicopter during a night training exercise on January 29, 2025.

The crash occurred near Washington, D.C., as the plane approached Reagan National Airport.

Emergency teams are conducting a desperate search in near-freezing waters, with the status of both the plane's passengers and the helicopter's crew still unknown.
