New 'Bridget Jones' film opens in cinemas
As the new Bridget Jones film opens in cinemas, fans praise the character who 'brings warmth to life' while industry experts say the role played for over 20 years by Renee Zellweger is relatable and appeals across generations. In the franchise's latest release, Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is now a single mum of two after the passing of her husband Mark Darcy. With the support of her friends, she ventures back into the world of dating, and meets younger man Roxster (Leo Woodall) as well as teacher Mr Wallaker (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The film series spawned from Helen Fielding's hit novel 'Bridget Jones' Diary,' which was published in 1996. Three more books followed, and a series of film adaptations - 'Bridget Jones' Diary' (2001), 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' (2004), and 'Bridget Jones' Baby' (2016). 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' began its global cinematic roll out on Feb. 12. It was released in the United Kingdom on Feb, 13.
