A memorial plaque was unveiled at Nanak Wood on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Planting of the wood started in November 1999 with the first of the 550 trees, which had been donated by The Woodland Trust, was planted by the then Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and assisted by local Scouts.
The wood was planted to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of the Sikh faith.
