Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the UN’s highest environmental honour, Champions of The Earth Award, for his pioneering work on the International Solar Alliance and pledging to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.

Even as he was congratulated by the UN chief, Modi made a stirring speech about how caring for the environment was indeed in India's blood.
