Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Minister Chiu Chui-cheng has unveiled a new "long-term residency" option for people from Hong Kong and Macao, which will not require relinquishing original citizenship. This comes as Taiwan is cracking down on Chinese infiltration of the country. Chiu also announced that standards for residency eligibility will be raised in the interest of national security.
