Vibrant and creative kites filled the sky in China's Weifang attracting enthusiasts from around the world showcasing their offerings to the craft.

Since 1984, the Weifang International Kite Festival has been drawing entrants from around the globe and this year saw 257 teams from 51 countries.

Kites are believed to have been invented in China more than 2,000 years ago.
