The Lion King: Mufasa (2024) is a prequel to The Lion King, telling the story of how a young orphaned lion rises to become the legendary King Mufasa. The tale is narrated by Rafiki to Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa also lending their voices. The film also explores the relationship between Mufasa and Taka (later known as Scar), from brotherhood to bitter rivalry.
