China’s defense ministry accused the Philippines of provocation on Thursday over its annual combat drills with U.S. forces that began this week.

The annual “Balikatan” started on Monday with thousands of allied American and Filipino forces simulating the defense of the Philippine archipelago and seas in a “full-scale battle scenario.”
