In a shocking incident from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s own constituency, Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, a woman was tied to a tree after her husband failed to repay a loan.

Sirisha, a resident of Narayanapuram village, was allegedly tied with a rope by loan giver Munikannappa and his family in front of her child. Her husband Thimmarayappa had taken a loan of ₹80,000 three years ago and failed to repay it. The couple had since moved away, but Sirisha had returned to the village on Monday to collect a study certificate for her son.

The Kuppam Urban Police rescued her after receiving information. A case has been registered against Munikannappa and his family members. Police have launched an investigation.
