Australian PM Albanese eyes ‘constructive discussions’ on trade, security with China

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says his China trip is an opportunity to have "constructive discussions" on a range of issues including trade and security, as he wraps up the trip after visiting a giant panda nursery house in the southwestern city of Chengdu.

"We have worked very hard to stabilize the relationship that has brought benefits with over $20 billion of trade resuming and removal of impediments," Albanese tells reporters, adding that the two countries have signed two-way trade and two-way tourism agreements.

Albanese was on his second visit to China as prime minister, seeking to bolster recently stabilized trade ties even as geopolitical tensions remain high.
