Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses made history. The first England team ever to win a major tournament on foreign soil. The first to retain a senior title. And they did it the hard way, coming from behind in every knockout match, including the final.
Wiegman cemented her status among the greatest coaches in football with a third European title and fifth straight major final. Even she admitted it was the most “ridiculous and chaotic” tournament of her career. At times, she joked, the players “almost killed her” but England always found a way.
