The legislature is reviewing a draft special law on Taiwan's Plains Indigenous people, a designation that is currently not officially recognized. Some officials say the proposed law would bring the Plains community the recognition they deserve. But others say a separate special law for the group is discriminatory and would not afford them all the same rights and benefits as other Indigenous groups.
