A volcano erupted for the first time in more than 600 years in Russia's Far East after a powerful earthquake struck the region earlier this week.

The eruption of the Krasheninnikov volcano began on Saturday evening, according to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team, making it the first historic eruption.
