Marvel Studios has shifted major productions from Georgia to the United Kingdom, cutting into the state’s film economy, according to The Wall Street Journal. The move comes despite Georgia’s generous tax credits, as lower labor costs and fewer obligations, such as health insurance, abroad make the U.K. more cost-effective. The transition began with Fantastic Four: First Steps and will include upcoming Avengers and Spider-Man titles filmed at Disney’s London facilities. Georgia production spending has fallen by nearly half in the past three years as Hollywood turns to cheaper international markets to cut streaming losses. Looking ahead, Disney plans fewer Marvel films, with two scheduled for 2026 and one for 2027, including new Avengers installments.
