Ken Shuttleworth (1944–2025), the former Lancashire and England fast bowler, has passed away at the age of 80. A tall, strongly built right-arm paceman, Shuttleworth’s career was marked by fiery spells, historic milestones, and a lasting impact on English cricket.

He will always be remembered for claiming England’s first-ever wicket in One Day International cricket at the MCG in 1971, dismissing Keith Stackpole. Shuttleworth also made headlines on his Test debut, taking 5 for 47 against Australia at Brisbane.

With Lancashire, he became a pillar of their bowling attack, securing over 480 first-class wickets, winning three consecutive Gillette Cups (1970–72), and recording unforgettable figures such as 5 for 13 against Nottinghamshire. Later, he represented Leicestershire, played league cricket in Staffordshire, and even returned to the game as a first-class umpire.

In 2021, he was inducted into Lancashire’s Hall of Fame. Today, the cricket world remembers him not just for his records, but for his courage, determination, and passion for the game.

🙏 Rest in peace, Ken Shuttleworth—a name forever etched in cricketing history.
