Check out this heartwarming clip where a 87-year-old grandma gets her very first solo apartment!
At 87 years old, Jan Lewis from South Carolina, USA has just moved into her very first apartment where she’ll be living independently for the first time in her life.
The milestone was captured on video by her daughter, Suzanne Mosley, with granddaughter Ava also cheering her on.
Now proudly calling herself an “independent queen” in her new pad, Jan has wasted no time settling in.
She told how she loves the view from her window; she has already met a group of friendly women and even won $10 at bingo.
One of her favorite features? Her perfectly matching aqua-blue appliances earning plenty of admiration online.
The video, cheekily captioned “MTV Cribs: Assisted Living Edition”, has delighted viewers online who flooded the comments with encouragement.
Jan says she feels “famous” thanks to all the love and support, and is excited to enjoy this new chapter of independence.
Jan said: “In my day it wasn’t appropriate for girls to live alone!
“You had to show your marriage certificate to get approved for an apartment!
“I’m excited to only worry about myself!”
