The technical aspect and spectacle of the game – whether players could produce stinging smash and gruelling rallies – were secondary at a competition specially dedicated to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Some 80 shuttlers from the intellectually challenged community from 10 nations took part in the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Badminton Competition in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 17-20.
