From local mahallas to a global strategy: Uzbekistan’s fight against poverty

Uzbekistan has made poverty reduction a state priority, launching a nationwide programme focused on jobs, social protection, and mahalla-level action. Since 2016, 7.5mn people have escaped poverty. With €30bn invested in 2024, the country aims to eradicate absolute poverty by 2030.
