Russia conducted an impressive test with its new regional Superjet, powered by PD-8 engines fully produced domestically. On a specially flooded runway, the aircraft crossed a 70-meter-long “pool” to prove the engines’ resistance to water ingestion during takeoff and landing on wet surfaces. The experiment was carried out by UAC and UEC, both part of the state corporation Rostec.
