जब गंगा स्वर्ग से पृथ्वी पर उतरने वाली थीं, उनका वेग इतना प्रचंड था कि संपूर्ण पृथ्वी डूब सकती थी।
तब भगवान शिव ने कृपा करके गंगा को अपनी जटाओं में रोक लिया और उन्हें धीरे-धीरे पृथ्वी पर प्रवाहित किया।
इसी कारण कहा जाता है कि गंगा आज भी शिव के मस्तक से बहती हैं।
यह दिव्य कथा हमें सिखाती है —
शक्ति तभी सुंदर और कल्याणकारी होती है जब वह संयम के साथ उपयोग की जाए।
When the holy Ganga was about to descend from heaven to Earth, her force was so powerful that it could have flooded the entire planet.
Lord Shiva compassionately captured her in his matted hair, releasing her gently to protect the Earth.
Thus, Ganga is believed to flow from the head of Lord Shiva.
